SAVASANA (A Seventh Chakra Poem)

Deep forward bend
this musty mat rich
with the scent of sweat
and feet.

Plant the foot
and root down, elevating
hips, then ribs, upward facing palms,
the heart melts towards the sky.

Sex and Death,
expansion and contraction,
a solar flair.

Bury your head
and hair into my chest
our open lips
howl an anahata
mantra, ecstatic slip

of the tongue.  Centuries
have slipped by in our intertwined
lives.

Yet we are young,

in love, still entranced by
the way we sip giggles,

tinkling glass bubbles,

tickle each others toes
with our toes.

We are buried, finally,
in each others fragrant
soil, never afraid of silence
or of sleep.
